What is a Pre-School Nursery?

"What is the difference between a pre-school nursery and a childcare or nursery provision?"

While all can provide nurturing environments, they often differ in age range, educational focus, teacher qualifications, and flexibility. A key difference between preschool and nursery (public or private) is their approach to education.

Beechdale Nursery School is a pre-school nursery. Our staff team includes qualified teachers, teaching assistants, specialist higher level teaching assistants, a headteacher and a governing body, and we operate during school term time.

Beechdale Nursery School aims to fully prepare children to transition to school. Our children experience a structured learning environment and early education is very much a part of Beechdale life. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which was created to help promote the learning and development of children aged 0-5.  The EYFS is divided up into 7 areas of learning, all of which help children foster positive life skills and the early academic knowledge children need for both school and beyond! The areas within the EYFS include; communication and language, emotional development, art, literacy and maths.

This is, of course, in addition to plenty of opportunities to play with other children throughout every day. Play is an incredibly important part of a young child's life and throughout a typical day at Beechdale children will enjoy a great variety of activities which present fun and engaging opportunities for learning. This includes accessing forest school with a qualified practitioner, and activities such as arts and crafts, baking, gardening, movement and yoga sessions.
